Fossil fuels are not only choking the world in CO2. Fossil fuels are also a resource that is about to run out. In the increasingly desperate hunt for fossil fuels, we are destroying the nature around us. Not only is this disrespectful. It is also a lack of perspective.
In the next 50 to 100 years, we will need to cover our entire energy consumption with renewable energy. There is simply no other option. So we might as well get started now.
In 2050, there will be around 10 billion people on the planet. At the same time, millions of families are already escaping poverty. They now have money to spend to really increase their consumption, not least of energy.
The race for scarce resources
The race for natural resources has started. Things are moving quickly and it’s a no holds barred race. So there is no time to waste in transforming society to renewable energy sources.
The sooner we achieve this, the cleaner and less maltreated planet we can leave for future generations. And the fewer wars there will be over the fossil fuels that dwindle day by day.
In a longer perspective, it is actually egotistical to think about us taking only two hundred years to burn all the fossil fuels which the Earth has formed over millions of years. This demonstrates a way of only thinking about ourselves that we can no longer afford.
Wind energy provides the quickest way to correct our mistakes. The technology is mature and competitive. It is only a question of having the will and determination to use it to ensure a clean and secure future.
